  3. Do I need a return ticket for my policy to be valid?

No, you don't need a return ticket for your 'Return Date'. Select the date that you plan to arrive back home. You can Extend the Return Date online when you are overseas through the 'My Policy' Tools menu.

However, you CANNOT shorten the duration of your policy. If you have to shorten your trip and return home on medical advice and do not already have a return ticket, the amount of the claim will be reduced by the price of the fare to Australia from the place you planned to return to Australia from.

    Yes, as long as:

    1) You're not planning on making a claim on the original policy, and

    2) The new policy MUST start, at the latest, 1 year after the original purchase date of the policy.

Be aware the delayed commencement may affect the price of your policy.

  7. Is my policy still valid if I come home to Australia in the middle of my trip and then go back overseas?

Yes, if you return home early for any reason, cover from your policy will be suspended from the time your return to your home until the time you leave your home to continue your trip.  you must have 14 days remaining of the period of insurance as noted on your Certificate of Insurance.  Following the resumption of your trip your policy will remain valid until the end date shown on your Certificate of Insurance or your permanent return home, whichever comes first.  We will not pay any costs in relation to your return to Australia unless the costs are covered by this policy.

  10. What date should I put for my return date - the date I get on the plane, or the date I arrive back in Australia?

Your return date is the date that you actually arrive back in Australia. If you put your return date as the date you get on the plane, you will NOT be covered for anything that happens after that date.

  11. What time does my cover start? At the time I actually board my plane, or on 12 am of the actual day of my policy?

The certificate of insurance sets out the period of cover. The cover for Trip Cancellation Expenses begins from the time the policy is issued.

Cover for all other policy sections begins on the date of departure as stated on the certificate of insurance.

Your cover starts from the time you leave your home to go directly to the place you depart from on your travels.

  12. My policy has started but I haven't left yet, can I change my departure date?

No, once your policy has started it is not possible to change your departure date. Your policy is still valid even if you depart after the departure date and before the return date stated on your policy.

You can still upgrade or extend your policy with our agreement before the policy expires.

Please check the PDS for details on how to request an extension of cover, the time-frames for requesting an extension and any restrictions. An additional premium may apply.
