We have made some necessary changes to the conditions for buying our travel insurance policies. These changes ensure we can continue to be a proud partner of Aussie travellers and support Australian tourism companies with the sale of domestic travel insurance policies.
This guide provides scenarios for where we can and cannot currently provide cover for Australian travellers and gives you the confidence to both buy a travel insurance policy and travel.

There is no cover for these scenarios. If you purchase a policy and travel in any way that contravenes one or more of these conditions, we may reduce or refuse to pay a claim and/or may cancel the policy.
You can purchase a policy for domestic travel within Australia’s states, territories and islands within its maritime borders.

You can buy a policy for a specified country if you have been issued a travel exemption by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs prior to the purchase date for the same country AND it is one of the following countries:
You cannot buy a policy for travel to any country not on Fast Cover's 'Approved International Travel Destinations' list, regardless of whether you have a travel exemption from the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs or not. This is due to our limited ability to ensure acceptable medical treatment in or repatriation from certain countries.
If the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs has issued you a travel exemption for a country not on the above list, please call 1300 409 322 or email info@fastcover.com.au with the country you are travelling to, travel dates and traveller(s) age(s) and we will consider cover on a case by case basis.
Australian waters cruise (including river cruises) on a small ship (ship with a capacity of 200 passengers or less). For example a Kimberley Cruise or Great Barrier Reef Cruise.
Australian waters cruise (including river cruises) on a large ship (ship with a capacity of more than 200 passengers).
Policies can be purchased up to a maximum of 60 days prior to the Depart Date.
We are unable to provide a policy with a Depart Date more than 60 days from the date you are obtaining a quote due to the uncertainty of border closures, international travel bans and the health impact of COVID-19.
If you are currently in Australia, you can buy a policy if you satisfy all other guidelines on this page.
If the traveller is currently outside of Australia, we are unable to issue a policy. A policy is automatically void if purchased whilst a traveller listed on a policy is not in Australia at the time of purchase.

Policies are available with up to a maximum of 12 months duration including any extensions.
If you have purchased a policy with a duration of less than 12 months, you can apply to extend your cover once only for a maximum of 30 days up to a maximum policy period of 12 months by contacting us on or before your original policy expiry date. Extension of cover is subject to our written approval and your payment of the additional premium.

At this point in time, a policy cannot be purchased or extended beyond a maximum of 12 months duration in any combination. This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and you should contact us prior to the return date on your policy for the current extension options.
You can purchase a policy for both domestic and international travel if all travellers to be listed on the policy are aged 65 years of age or younger and you satisfy all other conditions on this page.
Travellers over the age of 65 and less than 90 years of age can purchase a domestic travel policy if they also satisfy all other conditions on this page.
Currently we are unable to provide a policy for any traveller who is aged 66 years of age or older for international travel outside of Australia.
We endeavour to do our best to only sell policies that meet these scenarios, but you should check you meet these requirements at the time of purchase. This guide is constantly updated and applies to your policy as it appears on the day you purchase your policy. We reserve the right to update these policy conditions at any time.
