Is the monsoon season in Asia considered a known event for travel insurance?
The monsoon season in Asia is a regular seasonal occurrence and is not automatically considered a known event for travel insurance purposes. It would only be treated as a known event if a specific severe weather incident or natural disaster had already occurred and was deemed significant enough to potentially impact travel plans.
This means that, in general, you can still be covered when travelling to Asia during the monsoon season. However, if a cyclone, flood, or other serious weather event happens before you purchase your policy, it would then be considered a known event and claims arising from it would not be covered.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
