What Does Comprehensive Travel Insurance Cover?

When planning an overseas holiday, there are often things you simply can’t predict. Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance policy is available to provide some cover under a range of benefits to help you deal with and take steps to be prepared for many unexpected and unforeseen circumstances during your overseas trip.

This is only a summary of some benefits available under our Comprehensive travel insurance policies. Please note we can only provide cover for the circumstances and situations covered by and listed in your travel insurance policy. Each policy has specific terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits. Not all benefits apply to all policies, so always review the PDS before deciding which policy is right for you.

Trip Cancellation Expenses

Cancelled holidays can be both disappointing and expensive, especially if you have paid for flights, accommodation, or tours. If you become unexpectedly ill, injured, or experience another event under your policy that forces you to cancel your trip, Fast Cover’s Trip Cancellation Expenses benefit may reimburse the non-refundable costs you’ve already paid. ^

Comprehensive travel insurance can be purchased up to 12 months before your departure date, allowing you to cover pre-paid trip costs even before you book your flights or accommodation. This flexibility may help reduce the impact of unexpected events that may affect your travel plans before you leave Australia. ^

Travel Delay Expenses

Travel delays are a common part of international travel and can occur for many unexpected reasons, and circumstances outside your control. If your pre-booked transport is cancelled or delayed due to an event covered by your Comprehensive policy, our Travel Delay Expenses benefit may reimburse you for reasonable additional meals and accommodation during the delay. ^

Under the Comprehensive travel insurance policy, cover may be available for up to $200 per traveller (excluding dependants) listed on the Certificate of Insurance for the reasonable additional meals and accommodation expenses, for every 24-hour period you are delayed, provided the delay lasts at least six hours and meets the policy’s conditions. ^

Trip Disruptions Expenses

Sometimes, even after your trip begins, unexpected events can disrupt your plans. Unforeseen events like natural disaster and strikes can result in cancelled or diverted transport and cause significant disruption. Fast Cover’s Trip Disruption Expenses benefit may cover reasonable additional travel and accommodation expenses you incur while you’re still on your trip if the disruption occurs for reasons covered under your policy. ^

Expenses must be unrecoverable from another source, and the event must be one that began after your Certificate of Insurance was issued. Full details, including conditions and exclusions, are outlined in the PDS. ^

Accidental Death and Permanent Disability Benefits

While it’s not something we would want to think about, serious accidents can happen. Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance includes Accidental Death and Permanent Disability benefits, which can provide a lump sum amount of money to you or your estate if a covered accident results in death or a permanent disability while overseas. ^

This benefit may help ease the financial strain that serious incidents may cause, providing additional support to your loved ones or helping you adjust after a life changing event. ^

Overseas 24/7 Emergency Medical Assistance

Our Comprehensive travel insurance policies provide access to our Australian based Emergency Assistance hotline with 24/7 support. ^

Depending on your situation, Fast Cover’s Emergency Medical Assistance team may be able to assist you during unexpected medical emergencies overseas by:

  • Locating and arrange overseas medical treatment or hospital admission
  • Coordinating approved medical evacuation or repatriation
  • Providing guidance on accessing local medical support services ^

Overseas Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses

An unexpected trip to the hospital overseas could be costly. If you break a bone in the US, or need surgery in Japan, Fast Cover may be able to help with overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses in some circumstances which are covered under your Comprehensive policy. ^

Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance policies are available to provide protection against the financial burden of reasonable overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses from unexpected illness or injuries.^

Overseas Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation Expenses

If you become seriously sick or injured while overseas, having access to emergency medical care can make a huge difference. Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance may be able to help with the cost of getting you to the nearest hospital for emergency medical treatment or even flying you back to Australia, in circumstances covered under your policy. ^

Our Comprehensive policy is available to provide cover for your reasonable additional accommodation and travel expenses, medical transfer, evacuation or repatriation if you must be transported to the nearest hospital for emergency medical treatment or be brought back to Australia with appropriate medical supervision. The medical transfer, evacuation or repatriation must first be approved by Fast Cover. ^

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Luggage

When your luggage goes missing or valuable personal items are damaged or stolen overseas, it can cause inconvenience and additional costs. Comprehensive travel insurance may include cover for your luggage and personal items such as laptops, cameras, and phones if they are lost, stolen or accidentally damaged in situations covered under your policy. ^

Benefit limits and sub-limits apply to how much can be claimed for each item, and conditions set out when and how cover applies. For full details, it’s important to read the PDS to understand your entitlements and any exclusions that may apply. ^

Personal Liability

Sometimes travel-related incidents may involve other people as well as yourself. At Fast Cover, the Personal Liability benefit is liable to provide cover for legal claims made against you for the payment of compensation in respect of:

  • Someone else’s death or injury, and/or
  • The physical loss of, or damage to, someone else’s property.

This applies where the loss, injury, or damage is caused by an accident or a series of accidents attribute to one source or originating because that occurs during your trip.

Your reasonable legal expenses, up to the limits set out in the benefit summary in our PDS, may also be covered for settling or depending the above legal claims made against you, where the claim is covered by the policy. ^

It is important to understand that cover for personal liability does not apply in every situation and general exclusions apply. You must not admit fault or liability for the claim or incur any legal costs without our prior written approval. For example, personal liability does not cover unlawful activities or the use of certain vehicles. Always refer to the PDS for full details of what is and isn’t covered, as well as the limits and sub-limits that apply. ^

Do I Need Comprehensive Travel Insurance?

Whether you’re planning a big overseas family holiday, a romantic couple's getaway to destinations with high medical costs, or a solo city escape, unexpected events can affect even the most carefully organised tripComprehensive travel insurance is designed to help cover Aussie travellers against a wide range of risks beyond just medical cover.

Thinking about whether you need Comprehensive cover for your next trip? Here are some common situations to consider when deciding if you need Comprehensive travel insurance and whether your policy can provide cover for these situations on your next trip:

Serious Injury, Disability, or Death While Travelling

If serious accident occurs while travelling overseas, the impact can go far beyond medical expenses. Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance includes benefits that may help provide financial support in the event of permanent disability, accidental death, and loss of income caused by an injury sustained during your trip. ^

Consider if your comprehensive travel insurance includes cover for these benefits as it may help ease the financial strain on you or your loved ones if the worst happens.

Non-Refundable Expenses from Cancelling Your Trip

Most overseas trips require paying deposits or upfront costs for flights, accommodation, or tours. If you become unexpectedly ill or injured and must cancel your plans, you could lose a significant amount of money.

Consider if your comprehensive travel insurance can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses as this can help to prevent you or your loved ones from having to absorb the full financial loss yourself.

Cancelling your Trip Due to Existing Medical Conditions

If you need to cancel your trip before departure due to an existing medical condition, you could face significant out-of-pocket expenses.

You may wish to check if you need to complete a medical screening and whether your comprehensive travel insurance policy can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses if you need to cancel your trip due to your existing medical conditions. This ensures you know exactly what you’re covered for before you travel.

Getting to your Special Event on Time

Travelling for a wedding, concert, sporting event, or other once-in-a-lifetime experience means you may have tight schedules and important dates to keep.

If your transport is cancelled, delayed, or diverted, you could face additional costs for replacement flights or alternative arrangements to arrive on time. Check if your comprehensive travel insurance policy include cover for special event transport expenses.

Getting Sick or Injured During your Trip

Becoming sick or injured while travelling overseas can be both stressful and expensive. In destinations such as the United States or parts of Europe, hospital and medical costs can quickly reach tens of thousands of dollars.

Consider if your comprehensive travel insurance includes cover for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation if you need to return home under medical supervision. You might consider these benefits to be particularly important for destinations with high healthcare costs, providing essential support during unexpected medical emergencies.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Belongings

Lost or stolen luggage and quickly disrupt your trip. Consider if your comprehensive policy includes cover for luggage and personal effects, including clothing, phones, and laptops.

These are just a few examples of situations that highlight why comprehensive travel insurance may be worth considering.

Trip Delays or Disruptions

Travel plans can change any time, from natural disasters or strikes. The Trip Disruption Expenses and Travel Delay Expenses benefits available under your Comprehensive travel insurance policy with Fast Cover may help with the reasonable cost of additional meals, accommodation, or alternative transport if your travel is disrupted by reasons covered under your policy. ^

Before you decide whether you need comprehensive travel insurance for your trip, you should read the PDS to check what our Comprehensive policy will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for. Any advice is general advice only and does not take into account your individual objectives, financial situation or needs.

What is the Best Comprehensive Travel Insurance?

When travellers search for the best comprehensive travel insurance, the truth is there is no single policy that suits everyone. The “best” comprehensive travel insurance depends on your personal needs, where you’re travelling, what you’re doing, your age, your health, and your budget. What’s suitable for a solo backpacker exploring Vietnam might not meet the needs of a family travelling to the USA or a couple heading off on a cruise.

The right comprehensive travel insurance is considered the one that matches your trip, provides access to the level of cover you need, and offers benefits and limits that suit your circumstances. Here are some important factors to consider when comparing comprehensive travel insurance options and deciding which level of cover or policy is right for you.

Consider Levels of Cover You Need

Not all travel insurance policies are created the same. Comprehensive travel insurance generally provides the highest level of cover available, combining a wide range of benefits with higher benefit limits than lower-tier policies.

At Fast Cover, the Comprehensive policy includes benefits such as:

  • unlimited Overseas Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses,
  • unlimited Trip Cancellation Expenses
  • cover for Special Events Transport Expenses,
  • Accidental Death and Permanent Disability which are not available under the Basics or Standard Saver policies.

If you’re comparing options, start by looking at what the policy includes, from emergency medical expenses and cancellation benefits to luggage and disruption cover. Understanding the range and limit of benefits will help you decide whether a comprehensive travel policy is the most suitable option for your trip.

Consider Medical Cover

What if you get sick or injured overseas and require medical assistance? Medical costs overseas can be much higher than at home, and even a short hospital stay may become expensive. Comprehensive travel insurance is designed to include cover for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses, as well as emergency medical evacuation and repatriation if you need to be transported to another location or returned to Australia under medical supervision.

When comparing comprehensive policies, looking at how medical cover applies to your trip can help you decide whether comprehensive travel insurance is the right level of cover for your destination and plans.

Consider Trip Cancellation Benefits

If an unexpected event forces you to cancel your trip, the costs can add up quickly, especially if you’ve already paid for flights, tours, or accommodation that aren’t refundable. Comprehensive travel insurance can include cancellation benefits, which may help reimburse you for eligible expenses if your trip is cancelled due to a covered event such as an unexpected illness, injury or other covered event.

When reviewing policies, check the maximum cancellation benefit limit and the types of events that qualify for reimbursement. Understanding these details can make it easier to compare policies and find one that aligns with your budget and travel commitments.

Consider Cover for Existing Medical Conditions

Existing medical conditions often hold travellers back from going on a trip. Consider if your comprehensive policy can provide cover for your existing medical condition.

Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance policy is available to provide cover for a range of existing medical conditions, helping you stay covered on your holiday. Simply complete a medical screening online or over the phone to determine if cover is available for your condition. Once approved, your existing medical condition will be included in your policy. ^

Consider the Activities You’ll Be Doing

The type of activities you plan on doing during your trip can have impact on the level of cover you need. Some travellers are simply sightseeing or relaxing, while others might be heading overseas for adventure like quad biking, hiking above 3000 meters, or riding a motorcycle.

With Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance policy, you can customise your policy with optional extras for an additional premium to provide cover for a wide range of activities and adventures.

When comparing comprehensive travel insurance, check whether the policy allows you to add optional cover for the types of activities and adventure you plan to do.

Consider Your Travel Dates and Destinations

Some comprehensive travel insurance policies offer cover for extended or multi-destination travel, so you’re covered under a single policy for the duration of your journey.

With Fast Cover, you can include multiple destinations under a single trip policy for up to 24 months, allowing you to move between countries without buying separate policies. Reviewing how long your cover lasts and how it applies across destinations helps ensure your insurance matches the full length and scope of your trip.

When comparing options, check how long your cover lasts, whether it includes all your destinations, and whether you can extend it mid-trip if your plans change.

Consider the Risk of Natural Disasters or Unexpected Events

Natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions can disrupt travel plans with little notice, leaving travellers stranded or facing unexpected costs. If you're heading to a region where these risks are more common, it’s essential to check whether your policy includes trip disruption cover for such events.

Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance may help with reasonable additional costs, such as alternative accommodation and transport, when your trip is interrupted due to a covered event.

Understanding how a policy responds to these situations can help ensure you’re choosing the right comprehensive travel insurance. The best comprehensive travel insurance is the one that covers the situations that matter most to you, whether that’s managing high overseas medical bills, recovering cancellation costs, or navigating disruptions caused by unexpected events.

By understanding benefit limits, policy inclusion and optional extras, you can make informed choice about which comprehensive travel insurance suits your travel needs.

Before you decide on the best comprehensive travel insurance for your trip, you should read the PDS to check what the policy will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for. Any advice is general advice only and does not take into account your individual objectives, financial situation or needs.

Comprehensive Medical Travel Insurance

Having an existing medical condition doesn’t mean you can’t get travel insurance. With Fast Cover, you may be able to get Comprehensive travel insurance that includes cover for your existing medical condition under applicable policy benefits.

To find out if we can provide cover for your condition, you’ll need to complete a medical screening during your quote journey where you tell us about:

  • Any medical or pregnancy conditions you have or have had during the period of 3 years prior to your policy issue date and
  • Any new medical or pregnancy conditions that develop, or changes to your health, after your policy issue date and before you depart on your trip.

It’s important that you declare all relevant medical or pregnancy conditions when you apply for a quote. If your condition is approved through the medical screening process, it will be listed on your Certificate of Insurance and will then be included under your cover. Any relevant medical or pregnancy condition that is not declared or not listed on your Certificate of Insurance will not be covered.

Please keep in mind that some existing medical conditions may require you to pay an additional cost for them to be included under your cover. You have the choice to either pay for this additional cost or not. If you choose to pay, the condition will be added to your policy and shown on your Certificate of Insurance. If you choose not to pay, that condition will not be covered.

How to Apply for Cover for Existing Medical Conditions

If you have any existing medical conditions, you may be able to apply to include cover for them during your trip. Our simple medical screening process can be completed online or over the phone to help you find out if your medical condition or pregnancy condition can be covered under your Comprehensive travel insurance policy.

Select Who Needs Cover

Once you've added all travellers, to your policy, you can select those who wish to add cover for any existing medical conditions.

Take a Medical Screening

Answer a few questions online or over the phone about your health history. This helps us determine if your condition can be covered.

Choose to Add Cover

We'll let you know if we can provide cover for any existing medical conditions. You can then choose to add it to your policy.

To find out more about our medical screening process, and how the policy will apply in relation to an existing medical condition, please read and consider the PDS for eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that apply.

Compare Travel Insurance Benefits

Depending on the level of cover you take out with your travel insurance policy, Fast Cover can provide you with different benefits to suit your travel plans, helping you to better prepare for and deal with unexpected medical and financial circumstances on your trip. Compare our Comprehensive policy to our Standard Saver and Basics policies and benefit limits below.

The table below is only a summary of benefits. Each level of cover is subject to full policy terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits, and exclusions as per our PDS available on our website. Benefit limits shown apply per person for both Singles and Duo policies. # These benefit limits are shared between Duo policy holders. ~ These benefit limits are shared between travellers under a Family policy. This means the benefit amount is for the whole family to be used together, not for each person separately. ^ Cover under these benefits are excluded while travelling within Australia. If you hold a Frequent Traveller Saver policy, the benefit limits apply to the combined total of all claims made by all covered travellers (including an accompanying spouse/partner and dependants) listed on the Certificate of Insurance.

What is Not Covered in our Comprehensive Travel Insurance?

When comparing international comprehensive travel insurance, it’s just as important to know what isn’t covered as it is to know what is. Like all insurance products, Fast Cover’s Comprehensive travel insurance has terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits that apply that you need to be aware of and consider before buying travel insurance.

Below are some examples of when cover may not be available. Always check the PDS and TMD to understand the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits before making your decision to buy.

If you become injured while breaking the law

If you’re injured while breaking the law overseas, your comprehensive travel insurance policy is unlikely to cover the incident. This includes scenarios such as riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet, driving without the proper licence, or operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Local laws vary significantly different between countries, what may be legal in Australia could be prohibited elsewhere. For example, in some destinations, even riding a scooter without the correct international licence could leave you without cover if an accident occurs. Engaging in illegal drug use or carrying prohibited substances could also result in both criminal charges overseas and the denial of any related insurance claim.

Since laws differ across countries, you should always check local regulations before you travel. Remember, comprehensive international travel insurance does not cover illegal activities.

If you are intoxicated or have taken illicit drugs or prohibited substances

Our Comprehensive policy does not provide cover for any incident that is directly or indirectly related to alcohol or drugs. This means that if you are injured, cause damage, or require medical treatment while under the influence of alcohol, illicit substances, or prohibited drugs, your claim will not be paid.

For example, if you’re under the influence of alcohol and you stumble and hurt yourself, you may not have cover under your policy. Certain drugs are illegal in some countries, and you may not be covered by your international travel insurance policy when you’ve consumed drugs or been involved in drug related activities.

If you do an activity that isn’t covered by your policy

Not every activity is automatically included in a comprehensive travel insurance policy. If you plan to go skiing in Japan, snowboarding in New Zealand, quad biking in Bali, or riding a motorcycle in Vietnam, you need to make sure you have the right optional extras included. For example, if you choose not to add the Motorcycle Pack, an accident while riding or being a passenger on a scooter could leave you responsible for all medical expenses.

It is important to think about what activities you will be participating in so that you have the right cover for the activities you plan to do overseas.

Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Belongings Left Unattended

Luggage and personal effects cover is designed to help if your belongings are lost, stolen or damaged, but you must take reasonable care to protect and secure your luggage and personal items at all times. If you leave your phone, laptop, or wallet unattended on a café table while stepping away, or if you leave your bag on the beach while swimming, any theft or loss may not be covered. Similarly, if your accommodation provides a safe and you choose not to use it in its intended way and purpose, your claim may be affected if valuables are stolen from your room.

Make sure you always keep your belongings with you or keep them in a secure location or take reasonable measures to always secure them and at all places.

Regular medical or dental check-ups

Comprehensive travel insurance covers emergencies, not regular health needs. This means routine doctor visits, dental check-ups, or repeat prescriptions are excluded from cover. For example, if you travel overseas and realise you’ve forgotten to bring enough of your usual medication, purchasing more overseas will likely not be reimbursed. Similarly, if you booked an elective surgery or cosmetic treatment while overseas, it would not be covered.

Ignoring official warnings

Should the Australian Government release a warning on official government Smartraveller website that certain areas overseas are no longer safe to travel to and you still choose to travel there anyway, there may be exclusions that will apply, such as if you do not follow advice in the mass media where a travel advisory risk rating of Do Not Travel was issued after policy purchase.

Note: We are unable to offer travel insurance to international destinations that have a Do Not Travel warning on official government Smartraveller website. To check which countries we may cover, enter your destination country in the quote box on our website.

Known events

Travel insurance is designed for unforeseen situations, not those that are already public knowledge. If you buy international comprehensive travel insurance after a major event has been declared, such as a volcanic eruption in Indonesia or a declared global disease outbreak, claims related to that event are unlikely to be covered.

You should check for any Travel Alerts that may have been issued for your overseas travel destination as well as information on the official government Smartraveller website so you know where you stand with regards to the cover that you will have on your international travel insurance policy.

Disappointing holidays

Not every part of a holiday goes exactly as planned, and sometimes things just don’t live up to expectations. Maybe the weather in Bali was not as sunny as you hoped, the crowds in Europe made sightseeing a little harder, or your hotel in Thailand didn’t quite match the photos online. While these situations can be frustrating, they’re not considered insurable events, which means your Comprehensive travel insurance won’t cover them. Travel insurance is designed to step in when unexpected events cause financial loss, which is not recoverable in any other way, not when a trip is less enjoyable than you imagined.

As each individual’s circumstances are different, we will assess each claim on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with your specific circumstances, policy terms and Certificate of Insurance.

Who Should Get a Comprehensive Travel Insurance Policy?

FAQs about Comprehensive Travel Insurance

The Comprehensive policy is considered as Fast Cover’s most popular level of cover by many and provides highest level of cover for international trips compared to Standard Saver or Basics. It includes higher benefit limits and cover for a wide range of unexpected events as listed on the PDS.

With this policy, you’re covered for things like:

  • Unlimited overseas medical emergencies and hospital expenses (for eligible claims).
  • Trip cancellation and disruption costs if you need to cancel or rearrange travel due to an insured event.
  • Luggage and personal effects if they are lost, stolen, or damaged (with per-item limits and depreciation considerations, unless specified).
  • Travel delays or missed connections to special events.
  • Serious incidents such as accidental death, permanent disability, or loss of income following an accident due to a covered event.
  • Cover for passports, credit cards, and theft of cash as listed on the PDS
  • Personal liability cover if you’re legally responsible for injury to someone else or damage to their property.

The Comprehensive policy can also be tailored with optional extras like Rental Vehicle Excess, Motorcycle Pack, Bicycle Pack, or Adventure Pack, depending on the type of trip you’re taking.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

It’s a common question, and the answer is that no travel insurance policy can cover every possible event. Even with Fast Cover’s top-level Comprehensive policy, there are still limits, conditions, and exclusions that apply.

Because of this, it’s important to:

  • Review the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) carefully to understand what is and isn’t included.
  • Use tools like search (Ctrl+F) to look up specific activities or scenarios you’re concerned about.
  • Consider whether optional extras are relevant for your trip, such as Rental Vehicle Excess or Adventure Pack.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

When we describe the Comprehensive policy as our most popular, it simply means that more travellers choose this policy compared to our other options. Many people select it because it provides the highest level of cover with higher benefit limits, as compared to Standard Saver or Basics.

“Most popular” doesn’t mean it’s automatically the right option for everyone — it just reflects what many travellers have chosen. The right policy for you depends on your trip, what you’re doing, and the level of cover you need. Always check the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) to make sure the cover suits your circumstances.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

A Medical Condition means any bodily or physical injury, physical defect, illness, disease or other medical or dental Condition or sign or symptom of these things, the applicable person:

  • required prescription medication for or has been prescribed medication from a medical practitioner in writing for,
  • sought or received medical advice from a medical practitioner or other health care professional for,
  • had tests, investigations, care, treatment or medical attention including surgery for,
  • been admitted to hospital for (including emergency department or day surgery procedure), or
  • became aware of or which a reasonable person in the circumstances would have been aware of.

It includes but is not limited to:

  • the suffering or treatment of mental illness,
  • a brain, heart (such as any cardiovascular or coronary heart disease or any condition related to a heart or blood vessels), kidney, liver, respiratory, circulatory (such as high blood pressure, stroke, or transient ischaemic attack), cancer or cancerous condition,
  • reduced or deficient immune system,
  • a sign or symptom of the above matters, or
  • an allergy or food intolerance,
  • a persistent and lasting condition in medicine such as constant pain or long-suffering pain or pain with a pattern of relapse and remission.
  • any conditions related to previous and current pregnancy as detailed in What is a Pregnancy Condition and in the ‘Pregnancy Cover’ section of the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

The cost of Comprehensive travel insurance does not have a fixed price — it depends on your personal trip details and the level of cover you choose. Premiums are calculated based on several factors, including:

  • The destination or region you are travelling to
  • The length of your trip
  • The age of each traveller
  • The excess you choose
  • Any optional extras, such as cover for snow sports or rental vehicle excess
  • Your medical history and any existing conditions
  • When you purchase the policy in relation to your departure date

Because of these variables, the best way to find out the exact cost for your trip is to get a personalised quote online at www.fastcover.com.au

Comprehensive travel insurance can be purchased any time before you start your trip. The timing is up to you. Some travellers choose to buy as soon as they book flights or accommodation, while others wait until closer to departure.

It’s important to note that the cancellation benefit begins from the moment you purchase your policy. This means that if a covered event happens after you’ve taken out cover but before you depart, you may be able to claim for cancellation costs in line with your policy.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

Choosing a Comprehensive travel insurance policy depends on your individual travel plans and what level of protection you want while overseas. Each policy outlines the benefits provided, such as medical cover, cancellation cover, luggage protection, and optional extras like snow sports or rental vehicle excess.

The best way to decide is to review the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), which sets out the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions. Comparing this information with the details of your trip will help you understand which policy features may suit your needs.

Ultimately, the choice of policy is up to you.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

If your trip has already started, you can still upgrade from Standard Saver to Comprehensive, but you won’t be able to downgrade from Comprehensive to Standard Saver.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
