What should I do if my passport is lost, stolen or damaged while overseas?
If your passport is lost, stolen, or damaged while travelling overseas, you should take the following steps as soon as possible:
Contact the nearest Australian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate for assistance with replacement.
Report the theft as soon as practicable, but preferably within 24 hours to the police.
Prove that you made a report by providing us with a written statement from them.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
