“Our job is to get you back to Australia, to your family, safe and sound as soon as possible. Firstly, to get you healthy and stable, and then to get you home as soon as possible and there’s a whole team that works behind the scenes to do that.”

Expert Tip: Travel insurance isn’t just about money, it’s about having a reliable team with real emergency support and a trusted network of hospitals and doctors to help in a crisis. Fast Cover’s Aussie based Emergency Assistance team is available 24/7.

Why Aussie-based emergency support matters when you’re overseas

There’s a big difference between “someone will get back to you” and access to Australian-based 24-hour emergency assistance support that’s there when you need it.

Our EA team can help you in emergency situations.

  • 24/7 support: Our Emergency Assistance team is available at any time of the day, 7 days a week
  • Calmer decision-making: In stressful situations, plain-English guidance helps you make informed choices
  • Less admin while you’re unwell: When you’re sick, even small tasks feel huge, having support to guide the process makes a real difference

Got a question?

If you need to contact the team, our Emergency Assistance team is here for you 24/7. You can reach us anytime:

Our email is monitored around the clock, so you’ll always have someone ready to help

The worldwide 24/7 Emergency Assistance team is available anytime, anywhere, to provide support if something goes wrong on your trip. Depending on your situation, the team may be able to assist with:

  • Medical problems and finding the nearest medical facilities
  • Approving and or bringing you home if it is medically necessary
  • Locating embassies and consulates
  • Liaising with your family, friends, or work colleagues if necessary
  • If you are hospitalised, you (or someone travelling with you) should contact the team as soon as possible. If you are being treated as an outpatient and the total cost of treatment is expected to exceed $2,000, you must also contact the team.

You are free to choose your own doctor, or the team can appoint an approved medical practitioner for you, unless treatment falls under a Reciprocal Health Agreement. However, if you do not contact the team when it is reasonably possible to do so, they may not be able to approve or pay expenses such as evacuations or airfares that have not been arranged through them.

You must, however, advise us of your admittance to hospital or your early return to Australia based on written medical advice. If you do not get the medical treatment you expect, we can assist you, however we and the agents of the insurer, may not be able to help you for any problems that result from you choosing your own medical practitioner.

If you’re unable to call, you can email emergency@fastcover.com.au. The Emergency Assistance team will reply and reach out to you as soon as they can to provide support.

  • If you already have a Claim Number: Include it on your claim form.
  • If you don’t have a Claim Number yet: Use your policy number instead, and the Claims team will issue you one once they receive your claim.
