Expert Tip: Because no two policies are exactly alike, it’s essential to take the time to compare options, read the PDS and TMD carefully, and ensure the cover aligns with your travel plans, risk tolerance, and personal and financial circumstances.

The table below is only a summary of benefits. Each level of cover is subject to full policy terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits, and exclusions as per our PDS available on our website. Benefit limits shown apply per person for both Singles and Duo policies. # These benefit limits are shared between Duo policy holders. ~ These benefit limits are shared between travellers under a Family policy. This means the benefit amount is for the whole family to be used together, not for each person separately. ^ Cover under these benefits are excluded while travelling within Australia. If you hold a Frequent Traveller Saver policy, the benefit limits apply to the combined total of all claims made by all covered travellers (including an accompanying spouse/partner and dependants) listed on the Certificate of Insurance.

Where to next?

Take travel insurance on your next trip

Got a question?

Depending on the policy you have chosen, travel insurance can cover you for unexpected costs that happen before or during your trip. This may include overseas medical and hospital expenses, trip cancellations or delays, lost or stolen luggage, and optional extras for activities like skiing, adventure sports, or motorcycle riding. Not all benefits apply to all policies, so always review the PDS and TMD before deciding to buy.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

Travel insurance is designed to help protect you from unexpected expenses that may arise before or during your trip. Depending on your policy and circumstances, this may include cover for overseas medical emergencies, trip cancellations due to illness or injury, and theft or loss of your belongings.

Whether you need insurance is a decision to be made by yourself only and should certainly be considered for anyone who cannot predict the future. It is designed to provide cover for unexpected and unforeseen circumstances such as stolen luggage or medical emergencies which you have no way of knowing if they will or won't happen.

For more information, refer to our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and TMD.

The value of insurance may be considered to be worth it when you consider the cost of travel insurance cover, which is most likely to be relatively small compared to the cost of your total holiday. Costs may vary from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands for an unexpected overseas hospital visit depending on various factors. These costs can easily escalate with extended hospital stays and when a medivac is required to bring you back to Australia.  We also provide 24-hour support from the Emergency Assistance team if an emergency occurs.

For more information, refer to our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and TMD.

You can buy travel insurance up to 12 months before your trip and right up until the day you depart. For most policies, cancellation cover begins as soon as the policy is issued, which means you’re protected if something unexpected happens before you travel. Please check your type of cover to make sure that you are covered.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

You can buy a Fast Cover travel insurance policy anytime from up to 12 months before your trip right up until the day you depart. We also offer Already Overseas policy with certain terms and conditions.

If you wish to be covered for Trip Cancellation benefit, you may purchase the policy earlier as the benefit starts from the moment you buy your policy (note: this benefit isn’t available under the Basics policy).

You can buy travel insurance any time before or after you have booked flights, accommodation, cruises or tours. You can even book it right up until you are boarding a flight if you are a last-minute person or have forgotten to buy it earlier. We also offer Already Overseas policy with certain terms and conditions.

For more information, refer to our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and TMD.

You can buy cancellation insurance after you have booked flights, accommodation, tours or cruises, and you can buy it right up until the departure date of your holiday. The earlier you buy a policy that covers cancellation, the longer you will be covered for any deposits or money you have paid for your trip.

Please note cancellation cover is only available with our Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Snow Sports Plus, Domestic Plus and Frequent Traveller Saver policies.

Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

The cost of travel insurance is calculated on your specific trip and considers a number of factors including but not limited to:

  • Which countries you're travelling to
  • The duration of your trip
  • Your age today
  • The type of activities you're planning on doing, like skiing
  • Whether you're going on an ocean cruise
  • How many people are travelling
  • The type of policy you select
  • The amount of the Excess

Since pricing is calculated individually, the best way to find out is to get a personalised quote online or over the phone, where you can compare options based on your itinerary and coverage needs.

Fast Cover offers a range of travel insurance options to suit different trips and budgets.

You can choose from:

  • Basics

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

The best travel insurance for everyone is different because it can be considered as the one that fits your personal needs, travel plans, and budget while covering the things that matter most to you. Depending on your trip, this could include cover for overseas emergency medical expenses, trip cancellations, luggage and personal effects cover, and even optional extras for activities like skiing, adventure sports, or riding motorcycles.

The best travel insurance policy depends on your destination, trip length, planned activities, health needs, and budget. Fast Cover offers different options, including:

  • Comprehensive
  • Standard Saver
  • Basics
  • Snow Sports Plus
  • Domestic Plus
  • Frequent Traveller Saver

Each policy type is designed for different travel needs, so the right one for you will depend on your personal and financial circumstances and what you want covered.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

The best travel insurance policy will depend on your individual travel plans, preferences, and coverage needs as well as your personal and financial circumstances. What may be “best” for one traveller could be unsuitable for another. Factors to consider among other things which might be important for you, may include your destination, trip length, the value of your bookings, any pre-existing medical conditions, and the types of activities you’ll be doing.

Rather than relying only on rankings or reviews, it’s important to compare policies based on what they cover, their benefit limits, exclusions, optional extras, and the overall value they offer for your circumstances.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

You may be eligible to buy a Fast Cover travel insurance policy if you meet certain criteria.

For Australian citizens and permanent residents:

  • You currently reside in Australia, and
  • You hold a valid Australian Medicare card beyond the period of your policy, and
  • You purchase your policy before your trip starts (or meet the requirements for buying a policy while already overseas), and
  • Your trip starts and ends in Australia, and
  • You meet any other eligibility criteria applied by us during the application process.

For temporary residents of Australia (e.g. on a visa):

  • You are a non-permanent resident who holds a valid Medicare card, or you have Australian Private Health Insurance that meets the government’s health insurance requirements for your visa and is valid beyond the policy period, and
  • Your visa remains valid beyond your return, and
  • You have a home in Australia that you intend to return to, and
  • Your trip starts and ends in Australia, and
  • You hold a return ticket to Australia, and
  • You meet any other eligibility criteria applied by us during the application process.

Please note in the event of a medical repatriation from overseas, we will return you to Australia. Medical expenses incurred once you have returned to Australia are not covered on this Policy. It is therefore important that you ensure you have access to long term medical care in Australia.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.

Before purchasing a policy, it’s important to make sure it suits your needs, your personal and financial circumstances, travel plans, and eligibility. Here are some of the key things to keep in mind:

  • Eligibility requirements: You must meet residency requirements (e.g. being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with valid health cover) for your policy to be valid.

  • Trip details: Your policy dates should match your planned travel dates, and for all  policies (except Already Overseas cover), your trip must start and end in Australia.

  • Medical conditions: If you wish to apply for cover for existing medical and pregnancy conditions, they need to be declared during the application process. Cover will depend on the outcome of a medical screening.

  • Policy type: Different policies (Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Basics, Domestic Plus, Snow Sports Plus, or Frequent Traveller Saver) have different benefits and limits, so choose the one that matches your travel style and needs.

  • Add-ons: Extra cover is available for certain activities like skiing, adventure sports, or hiring a rental vehicle.

  • Cover start date: Cancellation cover (for eligible policies) begins from the day the policy is issued, while other benefits start on your departure date.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
