Why you should consider Travel Insurance for themed cruises^
While themed cruises are packed with fun, you should always be prepared just in case something doesn’t go according to plan. Travel insurance can be very helpful for any cruise, especially when international waters and multiple stops are involved.
Here’s how it can help:
Trip Cancellation Expenses
Life happens, and sometimes you need to unexpectedly cancel or reschedule your trip. Our Trip Cancellation Expenses benefit can reimburse you for your non-refundable pre-paid trip bookings like flights, accommodation, and tours. Keep in mind though, that cover is only available in certain situations, for example, there’s no cover under the Trip Cancellation benefit: if you simply decide to not go on your trip because you’ve changed your mind - so, it's important to be aware of the conditions and exclusions that may apply by reading the PDS.

Lost or Delayed Luggage
Your luggage didn’t turn up at the overseas carousel after your flight? The Delay of Luggage and Personal Effects benefit can reimburse you for the cost to purchase essential items of clothing or other personal items, if your luggage and personal effects are delayed, misdirected or misplaced by your airline or other carrier for more than 12 hours, and the airline won’t provide you with compensation (whether full or partial) for those essential items. However, you should consider the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply to this benefit, as not all situations can be covered. So it's important to read the PDS when considering your policy options. For example, there’s no cover if your luggage and personal effects are delayed on the final return leg of your trip home, as the benefit is provided to assist you whilst you're on your trip.
Get a written statement from the airline confirming the delay, misdirection or misplacement of your luggage, as this will be required if you submit a claim for these expenses.
Special Events Transport Expenses
Planned to go to a special event, but your flight has been cancelled, delayed, shortened or diverted, and you may not get there on time? The Special Event Transport Expenses benefit provides certain cover to book an alternative flight or other transport to help you make it to your special event. This benefit is only available if you have a special event to attend (we consider those special events to be a pre-booked, pre-paid and pre-arranged wedding, funeral, conference, sporting event, cruise or tour package). Other conditions and exclusions apply, so it's important to read the PDS when considering your policy options.
Ensure you get written confirmation from the airline detailing the reason for the cancellation, delay or rescheduling, and any compensation they have given you, as you’ll need to provide this if you make a claim.
