Travel Insurance For Groups

Going with a big group of people is a great way to travel! Make sure that you are covered for travel insurance before you go on your trip.

The following information applies to policies purchased from 30th October 2023 onwards. For policies purchased prior to 30th October 2023: you can find the PDS relevant to you in your policy confirmation email, by logging into MyPolicy, or you can contact us for assistance.

What is group travel insurance?

Fast Cover provides affordable group travel insurance options to make sure you and your friends have the same great level of cover for your trip!

Whether it’s a school camp or excursion, a destination wedding, or just a trip away with a bunch of your best buds, travelling in a group can make exploring new places even more exciting!

If you've booked as a group to travel, it makes sense for your group to buy travel insurance from one company rather than arranging it individually. That way there's only one company to contact if something unexpected happens while you travel.

We can arrange a travel insurance quote for your group of friends of any size so contact us when you're ready to purchase travel insurance!

Our Duo travel insurance option provides cover for any two adults travelling together and covers unexpected expenses you might incur such as if you become sick or injured, your belongings are lost or stolen, your flights are delayed, or if one of you gets unexpectedly sick or injured before you even leave home!

The benefits of taking out group travel insurance

Taking out travel insurance for your group comes with a wide range of added benefits, such as:

Better value for money:

You will receive a discount when you buy travel insurance as a group compared to buying travel insurance individually. Fast Cover offers a discount of 5% or more and you'll also save on Reduced Excess & Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess options whenever you book insurance for two travellers on a duo policy.

Convenience:

Friends travel insurance can also be more convenient. If you’re travelling as a group, you’ll have fewer policy numbers to remember and only one set of contact details to take with you, rather than carrying around a stack of paperwork.

Consistency:

Most importantly, travel insurance for your group comes with all the features and benefits of an individual insurance policy, but because you’ve bought travel insurance for a group, you know that everyone in the group has the same high level of cover. In the event that something does happen whilst you’re away, your friends will be the ones best placed to help you. If you’re all insured by the same insurance company, you’ll have the contact details at hand for emergency assistance immediately. This can avoid the added stress of trying to work out who's insured with who and find someone’s travel insurance details in a critical situation.

Medical screening for pre-existing medical conditions

Planning to travel but have an existing medical condition? We may be able to help - our travel insurance can provide cover for many existing medical conditions, just in case the unexpected happens on your trip.

Check out our Medical Conditions page for more information about medical screening for your existing medical and pregnancy conditions including information about the General Exclusions that may apply*.

Who should get group travel insurance?

Although the saying goes that there's safety in numbers, getting good insurance before you travel is still crucial in case something goes wrong or you experience an emergency overseas.

Our travel insurance can provide cover for your group’s health, luggage and belongings, and booking fees while you're travelling.

Your group could be:

  • A group of friends going overseas for a holiday, bucks or hens party.
  • A family travelling for a birthday, anniversary or family reunion.
  • A beautiful destination wedding overseas.
  • A team or sporting group attending a tournament in another state or country.
  • A school group planning an exchange or trip for one night or more.
  • A group of employees attending a corporate event or conference overseas.

Booking travel insurance for your group through Fast Cover means you’re covered by a travel insurance specialist and you can save some money for your trip!

If you purchase policies for two or more adults, we'll provide you with a 5% discount when compared to purchasing insurance individually for the same level of cover.

Just provide a few details about your trip and the travellers and we’ll give you a competitive quote for your group travel insurance.

What information do I need to provide for a group travel insurance quote?

Getting travel insurance for your group is simple. To get a quote, all you’ll need to know is:

  • Where you’re travelling
  • The dates your group is travelling (when you leave your home and when you return home)
  • The current ages of all travellers in your group

To purchase your policy, the extra information you’ll need is:

  • The first and last names of everyone in your group
  • The date of birth of everyone travelling in your group
  • Contact details, ie Email and Phone number, of everyone in your group

To save you time, we can use the contact details of one traveller (usually the organiser) and send you everyone's certificates, or we can put in the individual contact details of all travellers and distribute the insurance certificates individually.

Call or email us today to get a quote for your group's travel insurance.

Example Incidents:

Robbery in Rome

Ross was enjoying the last few days of a group tour in Italy with his wife when they were robbed of their passports, credit cards and cash. They reported the theft immediately at the local police station, obtained a written report and called the Fast Cover 24 hour Emergency Assistance team. Their Comprehensive policy covered the cost of replacement passports, taxi fares, two days living expenses and full reimbursement of their return airfares including the upgrade to business class which they had bought just a few days earlier.

Allen's Andes Anguish

57-year-old Allen from Melbourne was over halfway through his bucket list hike with a group in South America when he began experiencing high-altitude sickness. The Fast Cover emergency assistance team arranged Allen's medical evacuation to hospital for treatment as well as transport back to Australia when he had recovered enough to travel home. Allen's hiking tour may have been cut short, but his travel insurance policy covered his medical and hospital expenses which totalled over $23,000 AUD.
