On 13 June 2025, Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities which has resulted in retaliation strikes from Iran into Israel.
There were further escalations in the region when the United States bombed Iranian nuclear facilities on 22 June 2025, which has also resulted in retaliation strikes on American bases in Qatar and Iraq. This has led to the closure of airspace in Qatar and international flights to Qatar and the UAE have been affected. Smart traveller is advising that the situation in the Middle East is unpredictable and could get worse with little warning. Smart Traveller also advises that there may be travel disruptions within the region and globally.
